I really do. My one hold back is that my aunt had a dog named Trey when I was younger. She and the dog lived at my grandparents, so it was kinda always there. Is that a deal breaker with the name though?
I really like it! I think if you would always think of the dog that it would be a deal breaker, but your kids will never know the dog so they wouldn't make the association. Naming kids is so hard!!
I was under the impression that Trey, as well as Trip were nicknames for children that were named the same name as their father and grandfather. (ie: the third, III)
I like the name, but I was wondering if anyone else thought this, too.
I have heard of the name Trey used for a 3rd, but have also just heard it out-right as a name. I grew up with a guy who was named Trey and it was not a nick name or because he was a 3rd.
I'm out of the norm here. after reading the other responses.. I have never heard of it as a NN to a III. But, I've only known one guy named Trey, and his name was TRey Mitchell LASTNAME.
Re: Do you like the name Trey?
I always thought Trey was a nickname for someone who is the III in their family.
And it always makes me think of the Phish singer.

You're having a girl, anyway.
