Pregnant after a Loss

wwpgal do? movement

i know im not here much but i am not sure what to do... i'm 27 weeks now and LO has been reeeeeally quiet today.  last week she was kicking up a constant storm, but suddenly this weekend she hasn't been kicking at all.  i felt some rolling around when i lie down on my back yesterday and some today, plus i can feel what i THINK is her squirming from time to time.  i put an icepack on my belly and she did squirm away from under that.  my doctor hasn't talked to me about kick counts yet or anything so i'm not sure when to start worrying about inconsistent or little movement.  i'm debating whether to call the doctor on call or just wait until tomorrow morning.  i think if DH was home i'd be a little less anxious with his support but hes out of town working and wnt be home until late tonight.  wwyd?

  • I would prob call the answering service.  Or do you know anyone w/a doppler so you can check for the heart beat?

  • while the safest thing to do would be to call the oncall doc just to be sure.....I DO recall hearing somewhere that around 27-28 weeks there is a bit of slow down in movement.  I don't know why.  The same thing happened to me around that time and it was a Saturday and I didn't know what to do.  I ended up waiting it out and it was fine.

Do what makes you most comfortable.  For sanity sake sometimes it 's just better to call.

  • From what you're describing, it sounds like there has been a fair amount of movement today.  I'm guessing LO just turned to face your back, so you're not feeling as many distinct kicks.  Since doctors don't encourage kick counts until 28 weeks, I think you're probably fine.  Just drink something sugary and lay on your left side for a while, and I bet you'll feel more movement than you realize.

  • I wouldn't worry too much.  Drink a big glass of OJ or some other juice drink and lay on your left side.  There were a few times when DD wasn't very active, and that always perked her right up.
  • thank you so much for your responses.  i can feel her a bit when i am sitting down and leaning at the computer.  i never really feel her when i lie on my left, only my back, isnt' that weird??  i feel her head or butt (not sure which one :)) low down near my hip bone right now and earlier it was higher up... my instincts tell me she turned around and is kicking my placenta so i can only feel her backside moving around rather than the kicks themselves... i'm going to wait until tomororw to call.  i THINK, i'd like to think, that i'd have a stronger feeling if something was really wrong... at least thats what im going to tell myself!
