Cloth Diapering

My toddler dosen't like CD

We started CDing my toddler when LO was born 5 months ago.  We still use sposies on her at night and on days that she goes to school.  Our stash was given to us and was just barely enough for two babies and since our plan had not been to CD her I never stressed over it too much.

Recently she does not want to wear CD.  Every time I go to change her diaper as soon as she sees it she tells me it's Alek's diaper then she points to the sposie stash and says Elysabeth daiper.  This only happens when i change her diaper.  At my mom's she wears CD without issue and if DH changes her diaper there's no issue.  I don't know if I should just not worry about it or if I should force her.

Re: My toddler dosen't like CD

  • We were in a very similar situation - my toddler insisted that they were "baby" diapers and wanted nothing to do with them. Luckily she was out of diapers entirely in about two months so it wasn't a huge deal. I wouldn't force the issue if she telling you she doesn't want to wear cloth - I wouldn't turn that into a battle if you have disposables anyway.
  • My daughter wears pull-ups at night time, because she refuses to wear cloth at night. I hate it, but she cries and cries. So, it isn't a battle worth facing for me right now.

  • We went through a phase like that about the time she potty trained.  We let her wear the disposables, and then we ultimately just bought some gerber trainers for the day and night trainers/cloth pull-ups.  Almost a year later, if I don't have her "night night undies" clean & dried in time for bed then she will choose to wear a fitted with no cover instead of a disposable pull-up.  The truth is she doesn't even need that anymore since she is dry during the nights now, but she insists and it makes her more comfortable, so I let it go.

  • Thanks for the encouragment.  We are planning to trying the PTing thing again in January (after the holiday craziness).  We'll see what happens them!
