Pregnant after a Loss

How much cramping is normal?

During the first trimester how much cramping did you have? I had some mild cramps early on, and then none for a whole week or so, and then yesterday at 8 weeks I had some on and off on both sides. They were stronger than usual but completely bearable. What kind of cramping have you had?

Re: How much cramping is normal?

  • I actually had pretty bad cramps early on in this pregnancy...even before 8 weeks.  I think it's hard to say what's "normal" though ...depends on other symptoms too.

  • I was the same way.  I had some early on and then nothing and then a little later (8-10w) it came back a little stronger.

What's weird is that at first, having the cramping made me worry.  Then when I didn't have the cramping for a while, I worried.  Then when it came back out of nowhere, I worried. Ugh!

What you are explaining sounds "normal" to me, though, like pp said, it's hard to say what "normal" is cause everyone is so different.

  • I had "some," some a little stronger than others though none bad or horrible, but the times when I feel mentally I start to worry like they are impending doom cramps I actually just have to poo really bad. Like the extra pressure in my abdomen makes me think they are worse than they are b/c it almost goes away afterwards Embarrassed

  • cramping is fine.Is it sharp pains? If so probably RLP. I actually haven't had a lot but I think because it's number 2 for me.

  • I have been having some cramping too- I had alot early on, then nothing. Then the past 2 nights at 8 weeks I have had some cramping in the middle of the night- totally bearable like you said but still, I know it makes us all worry.  I think it is normal though.

  • I seem to have cramps on and off this entire time.  One week off, 3 days on, 2 days off, etc...

Like PP said I get scared when I have them and scared when I don't.  DH just keeps reminding me that it is our baby growing big.  Sometimes that helps, other times I think about hitting DH.  :)

  • I have been cramping a lot this past week-  which has been worrying me. I had a shot of progesterone, but am still cramping.  Mine is all in my lower back.  It feels like a combo of backache and cramps.  The tech told me my uterus was tilted back during my us wednesday-so maybe that is why it is all in my back.  I know I didn't have all of this cramping with Ella.  I hope yours goes away soon!
