I guess I am a little more pissy than usual (vent) (long)

So for the past 3 years DH and I have a NYE party. I haven't gotten a chance to get the evite out but last year with my loss it was the same deal and everyone made it. Two of DHs friends asked if we were having a party and he said yes... They didn't say anything just "ok"... Fast forward to yesterday when my friend texted me and I said some thing about our party her response was "oh your having a party" ... Me "yes we have one every year sending invite out Tom. Her... Oh well made plans already hope we can stop my. Me.... Whatever. What makes me angry is that she made plans with the two friends that DH told we were having the party. We are very close to them so I don't know why we either weren't part of the plans and that they didn't call to see if we were having a party. This is a group that everyone has their holiday, one never sends invites out for July 4th but god forbid someone doesn't show up ect. I just feel left out and hurt...DH doesn't care and would rather have a quite night but I want a party at my house... Where I don't have to deal with drunk pol on the road, large crowds ect. I sent the evite with a message stating that because this month has been insane with the loss of my cousin I got it out late and if you can t make it let me know so we can just be low key....

I'm sorry sweetie.  It sucks to be left out.  Maybe your DH can talk to them and see if they'll come over.

Thanks Emma. My sisters were pissed when they found out. They aren't coming but at least they asked if it was ok or not...

Seriously?  If it's a tradition they should have asked you before making other plays "Hey are you having a party this year?"  Not to mention you told the other two ppl they made plans w/that you were having a party!!  That sucks.

It sounds like your friends were assuming you weren't doing something this year with all you've been through. Such supportive friends you have!!

I was the party planner for our entire group of friends for years, and finally the one year my BFF was finally in town, I ditched out everyone to just spend NYE with her and they scrambled to get something together at the last minute. It's like no one else is remotely capable of planning anything in advance. Pisses me off. I guess I have too high of expectations for my friends to take some initiative once in awhile?
