Scared - Contractions :(

So.... I am having about 4 per hour (my threshold is 6).  I am doing home uterine monitoring and every day I hook myself up to a monitor and transmit my hour to a nursing staff who review it.  I monitored for an hour, didn't feel a thing, and she said I had 3!  2 were 40 seconds each and the third was 60 seconds.  I've felt stronger ones throughout the day, maybe 1-2 per hour, but I'm terrified that if I include ones I dont' really feel, I'm up to 6 per hour

I'm also having some strong back pain, which is also another symptom of PTL.  It's waaaaay too early to be starting this.  I figured it would hit me around 32 weeks, but this sh!t is just scary..

I couldn't sleep last night and got woken up by a really strong one.  Dammit!!!  For now, I'm told to monitor frequently, drinks lots of water, and I'm putting myself on voluntary modified bed rest...

I'm so sorry.  I'm glad to hear that they are monitoring you.  I hope the hydration and bed rest help, and things are all okay.

Sh!t.  Since it's so early, is there nothing they can do to stop it???  I mean they're monitoring you for a reason, right?

HAve they giving you steriod shots for the lungs yet and shots to stop contractions???

GL I know it is a scary scary thing..Praying baby stays in for a long time!!!!!!!!!!

I think they pretty much expected this to happen.  Until I get admitted, they won't do steroid shots (I think they are only good for so many hours/days).  For now, I'm just hanging at home.  Fortunately, they're not painful or in a regular pattern, just really uncomfortable and SCARY.

When I hit 6 per hour monitored ones, they will probably tell me to go to L+D.  It's just a waiting game at this point, and I really want to get to 28 weeks.......

Oh sh!t. I'm so sorry hon. Are they letting your OB know what's going on? I'm glad you're being monitored. I agree that right now some bedrest might be in order. I hope this stops soon.

Thanks. We've already been talked terbutaline pump as a worst case.

Everything had been going SO perfectly.  I feel like it's not a bad idea to get a bag packed now, JUST in case...

I know how you feel , it is SO scary!  I was in L&D 3x this week and am now on bedrest and terbutaline. They tried Procardia at first but it only slowed them down for about a day and then they were back full force.  They figured out that I had a UTI which could be causing them and have been on antibiotics since Monday.  The terb is really helping and last night was the first night this week I wasn't woken up by contractions.

They really stressed for me to force fluids and make sure I don't get constipated. 

I really hope things get figured out for you and you are able to keep your LO in there!  ((HUGS))

Oh honey! I know its scary! Try to relax a little tho, my mfm says stress can makes them worse. She also said the ones you don't feel generally don't count. I know every doctor is different though. Your best bet is to go to L+D get an FFN and if its positive they will give you the steriod shots. They are good for 2 weeks. After two weeks they are still benefical, just not as strong. MFM said if I go into labor again after the two weeks pass, they can give you another round when labor is imminent. Also mag is used for neuro protection which is something to think about too. going on bed rest, staying super hydrated, and keeping track is a good idea. you can make it past 28w hun!! I'm praying for you!

Thanks, everyone!  Still feeling tight and a little crampy.  I monitored this morning and only had 2 in 45 minutes.  Resting and lots of water are on my agenda... T&P's are MUCH appreciated.

I can't imagine how scary it must be, but it does sound like your doctor is staying on top of it with the monitoring. I am praying for you and little Isaac!!
