Car question... Advice needed

I currently have a Toyota Corrolla and I am sure those of you with twins are already saying, "you'll need something with more room"! So, i would be happy to trade my car in but dont want to spend an arm and a leg, meanwhile my husband will need a new car too... He has an 11 year old Lexus. Doez anyone know anything about the Toyota Venza... Although I dont think it is the most attractive, would it be big enough for twins, any advice would be great! I dont want to get the Lexus SUV because it is so expensive and I really dont want another payment! Any advice???? I also know that now is the timemto get the deals! Thanks moMs!

  • If you're trying to stay within the makes you already have, you'll likely get a lot of recs for the Toyota Sienna.  I love our minivan (we have the Honda Odyssey)!

  • I am petrified of getting a minivan! Just not ready to admit that yet!!!

  • Ha, I was scared to get one, too!  But I read so many reviews, and so many people told me that it was by far the best choice... and I finally decided that I'm not so cool that it's worth being inconvenienced the next few years!

  • The problem with the crossover SUV things is the trunk space... there really isn't much!  We had a Jeep Compass and DHs Altima had a much bigger trunk!  We have a SIenna now and I love it.  I never wanted to drive a minivan either but you can't beat the convenience of the power doors!
  • you will never regret getting a minivan when you have twins.... getting 2 babies into a car is a PITA if you have to open doors by yourself, don't have enough room to get the doors open in a parking lot b/c some a-hole parked too close to you--- and somehow you have to get that infant seat in the door... etc.

the auto open doors of a minivan are worth their price in gold.

yeah- a minivan makes you look like a mom... but guess what? you will be a mom.

  • What Goldie said and I have a lot of friends that have SUVs and when we all go out I have to drive every time because our double stroller doesn't fit in the back of their SUV with everything else we have to bring. There is just something about having those auto doors that make it the best thing.

  • I'm a guy.....my Dodge Grand Caravan is the sh!t!  (though its a 1999, so no power doors)..... And, being in the Army, and hanging out with my battles all the time, we have the "Party car".  My wife designated drives us when we all go down to Country Bar each weekend.

The twins both fit in the middle, and their seats pop forward (without the car seats) to allow the other passengers to get in (unless they really want to take the aisle).

Ours is forest green, and I don't think it screams "MOM"........Its great for trips to Home Depot (fits 200+ bricks and a generator....with seats taken out), fits and entire $500 Costco shopping trip in the back, with the 3rd row folded down, and fits an entire, twin included, trip to the beach!

Its also excellent for travelling, as most get great gas mileage (compared to SUVs), and everything possibly necessary fits without cramming.

We even have a tow hitch!

  • EVERYONE told me to get a mini van and for the last 9 months i have had NO problems with my trailblzer! I just traded it in and got a Nissan Rogue. Smaller than the trailblazer but def big enough for both carseats, and since its cheap- i was able to get all the bells and whistles :)
