DHEA and Autoimmune questions

I had an RE appt. on Thursday.  My dr highly recommended DHEA supplements.  She said that there are lots of studies showing how they can help women with IF especially in combo with fert. drugs.  I've done a little reading, and they sound awesome, but I haven't had time to do a lot of research.  Anyone take it and any words of wisdom?  She has me taking 25mg 3x day.

She also thinks I have an autoimmune issue coming into play.  She's leaning towards celiece and I'll be tested for that soon.  She wrote out the lab test slip, but suggested I run that by my PCP first, it might help with ins.  Any suggestions on that?  RA was another thought she had.

I haven't heard of the dhea supplements, but I'm writing it down to ask my RE about at my next appt.

I don't know much about the DHEA but the celiac disease I've done some research on- it can be linked to m/c and IF. However, the blood test for it isn't always accurate, to get the best possible result out of the blood test keep eating wheat until the test. The only reliable test is an endoscopy. I have learned that I have a wheat allergy (it makes me sneeze) so I learned a lot about the gluten free lifestyle, really not that bad (big switch was rice for pasta, I make a lot of risotto). But that's all I have. Good luck!

I have never heard of this, but I will be asking my RE what they think.  I hope that your tests come back negative and that your RE will be able to set you up with a great plan.

My acupuncturist just suggested DHEA for me - but I haven't purchased it yet. I have Celiac disease (was diagnosed in 2005), so if you have questions, let me know.

I took DHEA for three months before my last IVF.  Even though it didn't work, I did have a better response than I did on the first try so it might have helped.  No matter what, it is worth a try.  Make sure you get the prescription DHEA and not the over the counter kind. My RE told me that the over the counter version is very low dose and not very effective.  GL and I hope it helps!!
