DH and I love this name, pronounced AH-nicka. We can't think of a NN though. We like Anna, but pronounced AN-na, not AH-na. Are the names too different sounding to use this? I hate Nicky so i will not use that. Any other suggestions?

I have to start off by saying how much I LOVE Anika. Stupid H veteod it though.
NN: Anya?
I would pronounce Annika as Ann-icka
I would pronounce Anika as On-icka
They are both beautiful names. You might also like Anouk. I don't think any of them need a nn but if you want to use Annie/Anna go ahead. Sometimes nicknames come more from personality traits or looks than from the actual name. We call DS lots of nicknames that don't have anything to do with his name.

YOu can always do Annika Joan/Jane and do AJ
My sister (age 26) is named Annika and we've never found it necessary to shorten it. The name is 3 syl, but it rolls over the tongue SUPER quick. The "correct" pronunciation is just as you've suggested in the original post-- AHN-ika.
Although her family, friends, and BF all call her Annika, she has one friend who calls her "Anni" (AHN-ee) and one other friend that calls her Nik. But these are sort of "isolated" nicknames!
Owen Anders: labor (natural onset), failed VBAC, emergency c/s.
This is a cute idea
This! But I do like PP's suggestion of Anni (AH-nee) if you must use a nickname.
My name is Anika (pronounced like you said, just spelled with one n, rhymes with harmonica) and I have always been called Anika, expect by a few small groups of people...
From about 2nd-6th grade, I was called "on-E" (not even sure how to spell that one, but first syllable + y, like you would shorten Madalyn to Mady) because many of the little kids at the daycare I went to couldn't say Anika so they came up with this.
And in High School I was on a few sports teams and the announcers for the opposing team would always mispronounce my name (Ah-KNEE-kah), so my best friend started calling me Neka (KNEE-Kah) and it stuck with the rest of the team.
Anyway, I LOVE my name. People still tell me how pretty it is. Sure it gets mispronounced often and I get called Monica when people "think" that's what they heard or Anita when they think the 'k' was a typo, but I love being the only one at a gathering with my name (in most cases).
And to sum it all up, I don't think Anika needs a nn.
