Okay, so I even read The Baby Whisperer and I'm stumped. DD is 12 weeks old this coming Tuesday. She still naps after being awake for only an hour (she's exhausted past this point!). When I see that she's sleepy, I go into her room with her, turn on her sound machine, swaddle her, give her the binky, and hold her for around 10 minutes or so (until she's relaxed, eyes closed, binky even falls out sometimes). Then I put her in her RNP bed. She usually stirs when I move her into her bed...she'll open her eyes, look for the binky, etc. I'll give her the binky, tuck her in, and off I go. Well, she'll have her eyes closed, but not really be sleeping. She'll be in this half awake state where she'd wake up if you even walked by for up to an hour! It's 58 minutes past when I started this process and she's still waking and whimpering every 10 minutes or so, to which I respond by giving her the binky. Help me. What am I doing wrong??? Even if I held her for a full 40 minutes and then put her down, she'd nap for only 20 minutes more, max!

Re: Napping problems
I really shouldn't complain b/c DD sleeps really well throughout the night, pretty much sleeping through the night consistently until this week, where she re-introduced a 2am feeding. I think she's going through a growth spurt though. The daytime naps have always been so short though. She's doing this crying when trying to go down to sleep during the day too, which is rough. I just want her to be well rested. Let me know what you find from Baby Whisperer. I feel like it's brilliant while reading it and then I don't fully grasp how to apply it later, lol!
