does your dog (or cat) drink the water? My bichon, every, single. christmas. drinks the water from out tree. Which is kinda cute, since he usually smells like sugar cookies (from his bath) and with the tree he just smells like christmas. I'm worried it's bad for him, though. But it's just sugar water, right?

Mine drink it too.  We don't put any of the tree preserver stuff in it or anything.  I guess the sap would make it sugar water???  But, mine always do it too and are always fine.

Our cat drinks it, it doesnt seem to bother her.

I've always heard it is dangerous for them to drink the tree water (something about insecticides/fertilizers from the tree leaching into the water?) so we have a special tree stand that keeps them from drinking the water.

I actually just heard it is bad for them because of the sap. It's not just sugar.  My cat used to drink from it.  My dog is too big to get in there.
