How old was your child when they had tubes, where did you have it done (Children's hopsital, specialty ear hospital, regular hospital) and how did it go?
My BFF (a Bumpie)'s youngest is turning 1 in a few weeks and the pediatrician wants her to get them but recommend going to CHOPs b/c she is so little (slighly big for her age.) BFF is nervous and I suggested posting here but she cannot get on her computer until later today so I posted for her. Thanks!
Re: Ear tubes ?
My son was 18 months old. It was in a regular hospital.
Absolutely the best decision we have made yet for our son, he has been ear infection free since and the surgery was a piece of cake (in and out in less than an hour).
DD1--10 months old at a regular hospital
DD2--11 months old at a pediatric facility (for minor, outpatient procedures)
The procedures were both performed by the same ENT. It was just a matter of where we scheduled it. The experiences were fine at both places.
It was the best decision for both girls. The anatomy of their ears were just conducive to being filled with fluid. DD1 took a while to clear up but ultimately has not had a single ear infection since her ears cleared up a couple months after the procedure. DD2 had one EI last year that we treated with drops.
DS was 16months, they did it after him having repeated issues since 4-5months old. ?It was at an outpatient branch of part of the hospital, but not actually IN the hospital itself. ?It was at the ENT outpatient surgery center.
It made a difference the same day. ?Took about 20minutes, with an hour for pre-op and an hour for post-op, then we went home. ?Feel free to page me with questions of have her do it - I'll be up for a while knitting furiously lol
