High-Risk Pregnancy

GD, high BP reading and put on bedrest for the weekend

I was diagnosed with GD right before Thanksgiving, take glyburide at night and my numbers are diet-controlled during the day.

Today I went for a growth ultrasound and while baby is doing great, my fluid levels are a little high, and I had 2 high blood pressure readings (166/something and after 10 minutes of rest on my left side 142/98). My doctor put me on bed rest for the weekend (she didn't go into too much detail about what she meant and I was too traumatized to ask, but she said "stay off your feet as much as possible."). I have to do a 24-hour urine collection Sunday-Monday and go in on Monday for a follow-up. She is worried about pre-e or pregnancy hypertension, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok.

I am 37, and up until the GD diagnosis, everything was going so smoothly. I actually still feel awesome - not really having aches or pains or any symptoms).

Luckily baby looked good during the u/s although he was hiding his little face.  Now I just need to keep him healthy! I am 32 weeks, 3 days and measuring 33 weeks, 2 days. Baby is pretty big according to the u/s - 4 lb. 11 oz and in the 56th percentile,

Re: GD, high BP reading and put on bedrest for the weekend

  • Sorry about what is going on!  Did you have protein in your urine during your doctor visit urine dip?

I am going through the same thing right now except I am on complete bedrest until I deliver at 37 weeks (if I make it until then)

I also have GD.  It started with some protein in my urine last Tuesday, did the 24 hour urine collections and found out I was at a 267 and pre-e is at 300, so I'm on full bedrest.  My blood pressure readings, while not HIGH are higher than they used to be (130/80)

I wouldn't worry about the size, he is barely above average!  I'm having twins and one baby was measuring 4lbs 13oz and the other 4lbs 7oz at 32 weeks.

The only thing I can tell you is to hang in there, hopefully it is nothing!  And if it IS a sign of pre-e at least you are as far as you are, not at 27 weeks or something you know? (that is what I keep telling myself anyway!)

    Good luck!
