Our girls will be one in a couple of months! can't believe it....
do you ladies have suggestions for a first bday party? Is a small party better so they're not so overwhelmed? or did you do a big blowout? was thinking big cupcakes for their smash cakes, and then cupcakes for the rest of the guests. maybe a sugar and spice theme?
any suggestions of what to do and/or what not to do would be greatly appreciated!
TIA
Re: 1st bday party suggestions
I have twin boys so we'd be looking at different party ideas, but there seems to be TONS of choices for girls looking online. While looking for the boys I would come acrross some "candy shop" theme birthdays, that's one I can remember, we had an "under the sea" Sugar and spice seems very nice! They have a lot of items on etsy that can be custom made so you might want to take a look.
We were originally going to do two seperate parties, but I posted on the board for suggestions and after some consideration we decided to go with one big party for everyone. It was easier that way and we would only have to do it all once- I was glad I did!
I made a fondant cake for the boys and had their cupcakes made so they each had one and the guests had cake. Cupcakes for everyone would also be a great idea !
My girls will be turning 1 next month. We're doing a Winter One-derland theme since they'll only be one once and the snowflake theme will be easy and cheap. Next year will be sugar & spice
We live out of state and my extended family hasn't met the girls yet. We're flying to Chicago to have their party there and are flying my ILs in too. I expect 30-40 people. Since this is a meet the babies + birthday party I don't feel bad about the size.
We're keeping the party simple. I bought decorations at Dollar Tree and will be hitting the sales after Christmas for snowflake tableware. We're doing a hot chocolate bar with different toppings and add ins. I'm still figuring out the menu. My family is old school and would be a little confused if we had cupcakes instead of the traditional birthday cake. I'll order two small cakes for guests (a chocolate with one DD's name and a yellow with the other DD's name). Each baby will get a traditional smash cake since the're usually free when you order a 1st bday cake.
