Let's share what we do to make this a special time of year.
This year we're going to start a tradition of opening one present on Christmas Eve. That present is going to be a new pair of pajamas so we have cute pajamas to wear on Christmas morning for pictures! LOL
What are your traditions?
Re: What's Your Holiday Tradition?
I LOVE the pj tradition. Well we always follow Greek traditions and bake out christmas cookies and make the special bread for new years w/the hidden coin in it....we listen to greek christmas carols while baking...now although I know these are traditional things to do, I don't feel it is a "tradition" per se being that it is just part of the holidays. I have been looking for something to start with our family. We also have been doing something fun that I was introduced to a couple years ago from my former "nestie angel" It's the German pickly tradition...you can read about it here. Natalia LOVES looking for the pickle and trying to get an extra gift from St. Nicholas...we look forward to when Konstantino can play too.

I have also been collecting ornaments for us...Natalia since birth and DH and I since we started dating. I usually do a picture frame ornament for Natalia w/the year and for us I get something special that speaks to the year (ie when we got engaged, married, now this year will be baby related/new parents...a personalized one with all of us and our names)

We haven't really started any new traditions as a married couple. We usually travel during the holidays. IDK if that could be considered a tradition, but it was something I used to do with my parents about every other Christmas since it was the time of year that we were all off around the same time. Now, DH has joined our travels. The holidays that we spend here, we do Noche Buena at my mom's house and then Christmas Day dinner at my godmother's house. We wait until the dinner at my godmother's house to exchange presents with the whole family. This year, DH, Elise, and I (and the doggies) will be opening our presents under the tree Christmas morning.
We would really like to start making our new home the center of the festivities, but it was just too much this year. I look forward to next year when we can start making our own traditions and celebrating with the whole family at our house.
Ornaments - every year, I get a frame ornament with the year on it, and place a picture of us that year. I've been doing this since we got married in '05. Also, I try to buy an ornament at each of our travels. I've been able to do this pretty good at each vacation.
Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) - usually celebrated either at our home, BIL's or MIL's. With the 3 new additions to the family, this yr it will be at MIL. In the morning, we do brunch at SIL's. We usually swing by my parents' house for a bit, and have dinner at DH's grandma's.
Gifts - DH's family has a secret santa amongst the cousins, which is done right at midnight Christmas Day, right after "happy bday" is sung to baby Jesus (tradition for the kids). DH and I open our gifts on Christmas morning, and we exchange with the immediate family at each house visit.
