On a whim I did this baby name genie generator and wouldn't you know!? Out pops the name DH keeps coming back to no matter how many times I use veto power!
Our DD1 is Eloise. I like old fashioned names and uncommon names. He really likes the name Olivia (as does the Baby name genie, apparently), which is lovely but way too popular in our area. I want Olive but he thinks it is too weird. I also like Mabel and Blythe, both of which he is okay with, but I am struggling because I don't love any of the names as much as I loved Eloise when I was pg with my first DD.
So, experts, which name would you choose: Mabel, Olive, or Blythe?
Or do you have any other suggestions? TIA!
Re: Fun name generator and help with DD #2 name please!
Love your taste in names! Olive is so cute. It's not weird to me at all. Yes, a little spunky but I love unique names too. Although it's very similar to Olivia, and you know how popular that name is right now.
I don't like Mabel, it sounds too old-lady-ish to me. I can see that it might come back in style though in a few decades.
Blythe, I like that it's different and cute. It's just OK to me but it's the kind of name that grows on people.
Some similar style names:
Charis
Harper
Hollis (a more uncommon girl name from the same time as Mabel. Love it.)
Raine
Etta
Calla (like a calla lily.. so pretty)
Verity
Briar
Briony
Leora
Isla
Margo or Margot
I would go with Blythe. You might also like ...
Miriam, Celia, Adele, Corinne, Camille, Ruby, Aubrey, Imogen
Sorry, I like Olivia a lot more than your choices.
Suggestions - Alice, Josephine, Ada, Cecilia, Lucille, Clara, Matilda, Meredith, Daphne, Susanna, Flora, Helena, Gwendolyn, Margaret, Harriet, Rosalie
Eloise is a beautiful name :P.
Of the ones you listed, I would fight hard for Olive. I LOVE it and wish we hadn't used it for our dog pre-babies. I think it's a perfect sister name for Eloise b/c both are unique and spunky.
Other suggestions:
Maeve, Lydia, Matilda, Rosalind, Josephine, Genevieve, Bridgette
GL!
Blythe
I agree w/ PP. I've tried that Genie before, and he is off his rocker.
Last one he gave me was Alicia Felicia.
Mabel is too old fashioned for my taste, even though I do like old fashioned names.
I definitely vote Blythe. It is one of my top 5 girl names. I used to love Olivia too, but I think it is becoming too trendy.
Another old fashioned name I love is Cora.
