carseat smarties

Is there a convertible seat for Colin (almost 20lbs) that isn't so "bulky?"

Colin is currently n this and Jake is in the Nautilus. I can't fit 3 carseats in the back of my blazer... :( any suggestions?

Re: carseat smarties

  • Both of my kids are in sunshine kids radian seats and as far as I'm aware they have the smallest footprint of any seat on the market.  They also have high harness height limits for both RF and FF and high weight limits.  I'm very happy with them.  I have fit the two seats plus DH next to them in the backseat of MILs civic and my mom's volvo V40.

I was just looking at that one! Wow- that is tiny, but looks durable too. Is it "better/safer" than other brands?

  • We just bought the Radian XTSL. (Bought the XT because DD1 will be using it, and DH doesn't want to install without latch once she hits 45 lbs.) It's a heavy seat, and it feels really durable. It's also a thin seat, so DD1 fits in it well now because she's thin. I think a chubby kid might not fit so well.

I measured the top harness slot as 17" (SK says it's 18"), which is the same as the Marathon that we have. I was hoping for 18" because DD1 is right at that 17" mark now. However, the Radian instructions say it can be used when the shoulders are above the top harness slot as long as the top of the ears aren't above the seat shell, so we do have some room for growth.

There are more harness slots than the Marathon that we have, which would be nice for rfing and just overall use.

I think the rfing weight limit is 45 lbs in the version we have, but DD1 is 42 lbs and way too tall to rf anyway.

Right now we obviously have it ffing for DD1, but eventually it will rf for DD2.

We bought ours at babycarseats.com. They have an extra 20% off code. I just checked, and it looks like it ends this Sunday.
