Anyone want to tell me about Have a New Kid by Friday

DS just turned 4 and we are having new major attitude issues, I know he is testing his boundries but the gist of it is that he wants his way and wants it now or he is pissed...that and just likes to generally push around his little sister.  I need something to help me b/c yelling at him has only taught him to yell, physically removing things from his hands has only taught him to take things from DD and physically picking him up and putting him in timeout has only taught him to push around DD.  And DH works from home so just letting him sit on the steps yelling today did not work b/c DH was on the phone and his clients could actually hear the screaming!

Oh, and any advice besides a book is totally welcome too.

  • I haven't read any books and don't have any advice, but I'm in the same boat...especially now that DS has dropped his nap.  By afternoon his pissitivity level is off the charts.  I keep telling him, "2011 is gonna be the year that you learn that you canNOT talk to me or any other adults that way.  You're going to learn to behave respectfully and I just might make a gentleman out of you!"  Well, that's not a direct quote, but it's pretty d@mn close.  And he KNOWS I'm not playin'!  It's going to be my will against his and I WILL win!

Good for you!  I am going to have to steal your motto.  I know we have to be more consistent and that if he knows what is really expected then he can give that to us, how the hell can he act how we expect if he only has to keep begging and gets his way.  Ugh, he was fairly easy until seriously like 2 weeks ago and now has this yelling attitude, if I tell him I will take something from him he tells me that he will just say, "no" and take it back!  Fun isn't it.
