For both boys we used newborn sized prefolds and x-small covers for when they were tiny and then pocket diapers. James moved into one sized pocket diapers at about 4 or 5 months and Mac has started wearing them this week at 2 months. We mainly have Bum Genius. I like how easy the velcro is to put on and I feel like it is easy to get a really snug fit, but I don't know that the velcro will hold up another 2 years or so until Mac is PT'd. We have some Fuzzibunz and some Smarti Pants which are both snaps. They will hold up better but take longer to put on. I really like pockets because their skin stays dry in them. When they are in the prefolds they are sitting in wetness the second they pee so you have to change them all.the.time. With pockets you can leave them on as long as you would a disposable. We were really happy with cloth the whole time James was in them (for 2 years) and it is SO nice not having to buy any diapers this time around. Good luck!
I was planning on doing prefolds + covers for the first few weeks and then I have some Perfect Sized Fuzzi Bunz and a couple other pockets. I'm planning on buying some Bum Genius and some OS Fuzzi Bunz since those seem to be the most well-liked. I'm glad to hear you like Smarti Pants, too because they're cheaper than the others.
