Would this annoy you?

My ILs are pretty ridiculous in general, but this is a new one.

We've been asking FIL for gift ideas for WEEKS.  You'd think it would be totally unrelated, but MIL ordered a new car and it got delayed.  FIL was so upset about the delay in the delivery (which affected him in no way and MIL was given a different car to drive by the dealership, so she was putting miles on a car that wasn't even theirs), that he said he couldn't even think about Christmas because all he wanted was the car in his possession.  Confused

MIL got the car Tuesday.  FIL called H tonight to tell him he'd come up with some Christmas ideas.  He said he'd picked out a bunch of DVDs on Amazon and wanted to FORWARD THE LINK TO THE CART SO ALL H HAD TO DO WAS ENTER HIS PAYMENT INFO.

Indifferent

Okay, I'm hormonal.  And we're on a tight budget.  So maybe I'm just a little easily annoyed.  But, seriously?  What's the freaking point?  He may as well have just ordered the DVDs himself and had us write him a check.  It just seems so greedy to me.  Ideas are one thing -- at least we ultimately have a choice on what to buy.  But to just say "pay for the stuff in my Amazon cart?"  I find that utterly ridiculous.

Re: Would this annoy you?

  • Yeah, that's weird and annoying.  I'm sure in his mind he's saving you trouble, but that really takes the fun out of it.

  • Yea, of course that would annoy me.

Instead, you should just let the kids paint him a picture and slap it in a $3 walmart frame.  Call it a day.

  • yeah, annoying.

MIL told SIL that we could buy gifts for them from her (she'd already purchased them) because then she'd at least get something she wants.

I told Jeff we could give her a flaming bag of poo.

  • uhm.. I did that to my parents today for their gift for DH.  I went and bought it actually because it was out of stock online and told them how much they owe me.  I think they were grateful.  Maybe I am wrong, but if it saves me shopping, generally I am thrilled.  You don't have to get them all.

    LMAO! You gotta do this!!

The link - I feel you asked for this and depending on how much the cart is, I don't know if I would be annoyed.

Yeah, if the cart is like $50 or something I wouldn't care because i'd still have room to get him something else that he deosn't know about yet. But if the cart isl ike $150, I'd be mad.

  • Everything my ILs do annoy me so this could be where you are coming from with this also. DH has an amazon wish list and when people ask what to get him I send them the list (it has blu-rays on it). I don't expect anyone to buy the whole list, but it does give them an idea of what to buy. I would rather buy something I know they want than something random, just pick one or two DVDs from the list and be done, but like I said I can totally understand why you are annoyed.
