I have a cold right now...and I am 5wks. I don't know if it's related, or not. I have heard that an early sign can be a runny nose, but I think that's more related to a change in mucus rather than an actual cold. Interesting post, I look forward to seeing other responses.
I don't know about catching a cold, but I did get a stuffy nose and a little congested. But that's completely normal with pregnancy due to the increase in your blood volume (it almost doubles by the end of your first trimester).

I have had two colds since conception which is very odd for me. I usually do not get sick very often at all. I had one cold right after conception and I have another one now (I am 6 weeks along). I read that pregnancy can suppress the immune system so maybe that's why? I hope this doesn't keep happening though!
Sort of-- I got what I thought was a cold, but it was a sinus infection. The doctor said these will become even more common now because of the increasing swelling / mucus. Fun stuff
I did, but didn't think anything of it because it's really cold and snowy here. Plus, I teach so I'm constantly exposed to germs. It took me about 5 days to get over, but it was not a fun five days!

I have had a cold now for over a week that I just cannot kick. Doesn't help that my boy got sick from daycare and ended up with pneumonia, so I haven't been sleeping that well.

No cold yet. ::knocks on wood:: I did wake up with a slightly sore throat for a week or two, but it didn't last throughout the day. I attribute it to the heat being on indoors, as it has happened to me the past few winters. Oh, and I get a runny nose sometimes, but that's while walking a mile to and from work while we're in the 30s and 40s. Once I'm to my destination I am fine.
But the additional mucus makes sense to an increase of having a cold...
i received a book at my first appointment that said that the hormone changes that cause m/s can also cause cold symptoms! i was lucky enough to get...and continue to have...both!
Yes!!! I felt like crap in early December, which I think is when implantation happened. II also have had a runny nose and cold since Monday, when I had a positive test. It hasn't gone away. I read somewhere that pregnancy brings excess saliva but I didn't make the connection to a runny nose. Makes sense!
I woke up this morning with a bit of a sore throat, runny nose and sneezing. I am about 9 DPO so I'm crossing my fingers that it is a symptom of PG. Still have to wait a few days before I can early test. :0)
Hey! Just wondering how your test turned out...we had an IUI Sunday 3-20-11 and one 3-21-11 and i just woke up with a stuff nose, and sore throat and can not stop sneezing! I hardly ever get sick, and really cant remember the last time I had a head cold....Hope you got your BFP!! Sending baby dust your way!!
A few days before my pd was late, I started with congestion/sinus stuff. And, oddly, I was watching a tv show and someone said on it "You know what they say, pregnancy starts as a cold" haha.. It was very strange. A week later, I had a positive pregnancy test
I have a cold now and it's HORRIBLE! I'm 6 weeks tomorrow. I've been down almost all week due to this nasty case of the sniffles, sore throat, cough, etc. and now think I have a sinus infection! My aunt told me that the "famous cold" is how she knew she was pregnant all 3 times! I guess this means it's for real?
Reading some of these posts makes me so hopefull! My husband and I have only been ttc for a month, but I tracked my ovulation and a few days after that I came down with (and still have) an awful cold! It's very unlike me, but I had heard once implantation takes place your immune system breaks down. My husband and I are both extremly anxious now. We can't test until this coming weekend. I will let everyone know what our results are This would be our first...has anyone else had a similar situation? I'm curious, I've also had some bloating, but not nearly as bad as normal before my time of the month....
Yes, I totally got sick 1 week after ovulation and just knew I was pregnant. I never get sick or even allergies! I assumed that my immune system and body are already diverting resources! Now, two pregnancy test positives later, it's confirmed!
Wow. This zombie thread that was started in 2010, was resurrected in 2011, 2013 and now 2014. It isn't even a fun drama one. Come on guys. You can do better.
This question is hilarious to me. I think I beat the record for fastest cold received after conception!
DH and I had sex on Jan. 5th. We went to work Monday, Jan. 6th but that night we both felt like we were coming down with something. We both had to stay home from work the following Tues/Wed!! We couldn't get out of bed. Cold, fever, headaches, sweating...it was AWFUL!! We took SOOO much cold/flu medicine!
Anyways, I ovulated ALL that week, and assume that since I was stuck laying in bed for two full days after sex, maybe that was why we were successful in getting PG! We had been trying for 7 months with no luck.
No idea if it had anything to do with conception, though. Just a fun coincidence maybe!
My last two miscarriages I was sick prior to taking test, I wouldn't even make it a week! This pregnancy I felt a sore throat coming on, tested ASAP and found out I was pregnant again ! I knew it ! It's because your body is trying to protect the baby and working overtime !

Um, WTF? You know that you cannot ovulate for a solid week, right? That's not how it works. It's one, 24 hour period of egg release. You had good timing, that's it.

Hi there DH and I had IUI 6/18-6/19/14. I would have to say that I feel like crap.. It started with a sore throat in the am and now the runny nose constant sneezing and everything. I'm still on the 2 wk wait I don't get the pregnancy test done until next week. I'm hoping this is a good sign. xoxo
