Could ds get in trouble for bringing this to school?

Tomorrow is ds's last day of school before Christmas break. I was planing on sending him to school with a card and a bottle of our homemade vanilla extract to give to his teacher.

It just occured to me that maybe I shouldn't send what is essentially a bottle of flavored vodka to school with a 6 y/o. You hear about kids getting kicked out of school for bringing a butter knife in their lunchbox- is a bottle of vanilla extract potentially a problem as well?

  • I'd hand deliver it.

  • Yeah, no alcohol on school grounds.  It should be in your parent handbook.  I'm sure there wouldn't really be a problem if you hand delivered it though.

    Ha. Parent handbook. That's funny.

(Our school doesn't HAVE a handbook. I've brought it up to the principal and basically she's too busy to write one and her staff is too overextended already for her to ask them to help write write one. Did I mention that this school is a total mess and that ds won't be going back after Christmas?)

  • Eh - if this is the place he's not going back to after the holidays, it might be fun to send him with it, and make sure he tells the teacher it's vodka.

Ds told me today, "Mr. Smith says he wants to teach us stuff but he can't because no one will listen to him and no one behaves." The class has quite a few kids with behavioral issues- dude might NEED the vodka, LOL.
