Pregnant after a Loss

I womaned up and peed on something

Hey Ladies:

I finally peed on something today and it was positive so I went to see the Dr. and they gave me a blood test.  I just got the results.  Definitely pregnant.

I don't feel pregnant at all.  Last time I had tons of symptoms, this time almost none.  I told the nurse I was sick and mentioned all the meds I was taking and they told me which ones I could take and which ones I couldn't take.  I have to make my OBGYN appt. tomorrow.

I know I should be happy but I'm actually kind of nervous.  Its not that this baby is unwanted but I lost the first one around 5 weeks and since I'm already sick I'm just a little worried about how he/she is fairing under these conditions.  I guess I'm trying not to get too excited in case something happens.  Does that make sense?

  • Makes perfect sense.  It comes with the territory of being PgAL, and I think we've all been there.  Congratulations on your BFP!  And good luck with your first appointment.  *hugs*

  • What does BFP mean?

I also have a question.  If you've had a miscarriage before, do OBGYN's normally consider you a high risk pregnancy or no?  I think I may be considered due to my asthma but not sure since this is my first time going through all this besides the miscarriage.

  • BFP = big fat positive.  :)

I don't think you automatically become considered high risk because you had a miscarriage.  I'm not considered high risk.  If you have multiple losses or a late loss, that might change things... but I'm no doctor.

  • We are all worried to some extend. With each milestone we come to we tend to breathe a tad bit easier, but I feel like it's always in the back of our minds. But that's why this board is so helpful - we've all been there and we all understand. It does get better :)

Congrats on your BFP & I wish you a happy and healthy 9!

  • Congratulations to you!

  • Congratulations!  I dont think you're automatically considered high risk if you've had a miscarriage - I think it depends on the dr.  I think my dr considers me to be because I had a later loss, but not sure what other dr's think.  Welcome to the board!
