High-Risk Pregnancy

Pre-E

I have had pre-e with my two children.  The second one worse than the first.  We have always wanted to have three children.  Has anyone had this happen to them multiple times?  I am just super scared to have to go through that again and have another baby in the nicu for two weeks.  I would just love to know what it feels like to have a normal pregnancy.  The good thing is my pre-e did not start till aroun 34-35 weeks with both of my children and it came out of nowhere so I never had any symptoms.  Has anyone ever made it to 37 weeks (full term)?

Re: Pre-E

  • I had pre-e in both my pregnancies.  The first time it was very serious and progressed to HELLP.  The second time it started at 28 weeks and I was put on hospital bed rest at 33 weeks.  I made it past the goal of 36 weeks.  The doctor was going to let me go to 37 weeks but we decided 36 1/2 was enough since my son had been so large when he was born.  Sure enough dd was fully developed and big (8lbs, 4oz) at 36 1/2 weeks.

So to answer your question, I almost made it to 37 weeks.  And the fact that mine started so early (28 weeks) but they were able to keep it low - and have it drop a little- by keeping me on bed rest- really worked and made the experience so much better than the 1st time.  It taught me that even if I did get pre-e again, the outcome didn't have to be the same.

I hope you have a good experienc if you go for #3.  GL

  • I had severe pre-e with my DS, delivered at 31 weeks.  Kind of like you, came out of nowhere.  I'm at 23 weeks right now and so far, so good.  Did you see a high-risk doc the second pregnancy?  I am with this pregnancy and they have such a close watch over me, it makes me feel a *little* better.  My goal is to make it to 31 weeks and then take it day by day from there. I'm sorry you've had it both pregnancies and I wish you luck with #3.

  • I had sever pre-e with DD and had emergency section (seizures) 7.5wks pre-mature. I am now 2 days away from my scheduled section with LO and I was told I had symptoms of pre-e (possibly mild pre-e) put on bedrest at 35wks. I am happy to say that we have made it without any symptoms (other than protien levels around 530ish, 2 higher bp reading, and blood work a little off). I have not been seeing a highrisk doc but they have had a very close eye on us. NSTs two times a week with a U/S once a week. I am very excited to have carried this one the whole time.

My OBGYN is a high risk doctor and I did go in every 2 weeks with my second to have FFNs done.  I hope that your pregnancy goes good, good luck to you!
