I've been looking for detergent to use on my CD's. I saw 7th generation at walmart and seemed reasonably priced compared to Rockin Green. My question is, on all the 7th generation bottles it had HE on it so I'm wondering, can I not use it in my regular top load washing machine or is it only front load energy efficient machines?

The only Seventh Generation detergent that is really CD safe is the Delicate Care one. I've only ever found it one place (my local grocery store). You can still use it in your top-loader. We use it for DD's clothes and we have a top loader.
