5 Weeks and Zumba

I am only 5 weeks pregnant but it took us a full year, progestrone and clomid to finally get pregnant. I am a Zumba instructor and teach 4 classes a week. All very high impact. Anyone else still working out like you orignaly were? My dr said it was fine, but it took me so long to get this baby I don't wanna do anything to mess it up.

Not ready to tell my students I am pregnant since we haven't even told family yet.

  • I continued jogging and strength training everyday through my first trimester.... i still make it a point to work out about an hour a day 6 to 7 days a week... sometimes now I walk more than jog, just because I can feel my body slowing down a bit, but my doctor told me as long as i was feeling good and there were no complications it is best for me and baby to keep doing my workouts!

  • I ran a sprint triathlon at 5 weeks and felt great doing it. I kept up bootcamp style workouts through my first tri and have just listened to my body since. I'm mostly walking and swimming now, but ready to get back to tri training after the baby is born.

  • I did Zumba during my pregnancy.  After 12 weeks I avoided the twisting, etc moves as recommended by my instructor.

  • Hi!! I am 6w 2d pregnant, teach 5 Zumba classes and 2 Zumba in the Circuit classes a week.

    I have been teaching since September '09.And my dr also gave me the OK to continue until I deliver (barring any complications of course). I am also going to continue my kettlebell training.

    I have told a few of my students, but no big announcements because we are telling our family on Christmas. 

  • Awesome thanks. I plan on doing it until I deliver but after a year of trying and clomid and nonstop bloodwork. You always wanna do everything to protect your new LO. Taught this morning and had no problem.

  • I've been teaching kickbox,ZUMBA, pilates,Yoga, Spinning,Extreme cardio and doing light strength training this whole preganancy.Im getting really good at verbal cues and less action.

     I got a HR monitor and try not to let it get to high (over 160) some classes it goes up to 200 !!!! but at least i watch it!
