Baby Names

Alliteration of first name and last name.

How do you feel about it? And what letters do you prefer in this case?

For example, do you like it and prefer the alliteration of A.A, or H.H? Or whatever other letters.

Re: Alliteration of first name and last name.

  • I'm not a huge fan in most cases.  Our last name starts with F, and DH reallllly loved the name Finley.  I just couldn't get on board with Finley F.

  • It depends on the names.

Lucas' name has alliteration, LL, but I didn't realize it until after I named him. I don't mind it though because their sounds are different. Lucas Lev.

  • I can't say I'm a fan of alliteration names. I definitely couldn't get away with doing this, seeing that the last name of our LO starts with a Z.

  • I don't think its a problem, however, it also depends on the names.  Sometimes it just doesnt work, and sometimes it does.

  • as a kid with an alliterative name, i hated being BB. i was never called by my name or nickname, but firstname lastname. now i'm married and my names (all 3!) rhyme, so i'm not sure which is worse! lol! certain sounds are better than others. we fell in love with one girl name with an M and our last initial is M, but we loved it so much it didn't matter. then, after deciding on our son's name (starts with C), we went with dh's middle name, also C... people love the combo when they hear it, but i'm not worried about him being called both names all the time.
  • I'm on the fence with alliteration of FN and LN.  I love the name Bronwyn, but our last name starts with a Br...  I just don't know if I can do it.
  • DH is RR and I like how  his name sounds. He's all about creating another RR (different first name, though) but that won't be happening.

  • Depends on the names

It can sound fine (Donald Draper, Sargent Shriver, Michael Meyers) or it can sound silly (Peter Parker)

  • It totally depends on the names. I think rhyming names are a little cheesier than alliterative names.
  • I was L L before I got married and I never thought twice about it. No one ever commented on it either. I don't mind alliterative names, but I wouldn't go out of my way to choose one. I definitely wouldn't cross a name off the list because of alliteration.

  • Our last name is Haggerty.. DH loves Hillary or Hailey,,,, I am ot sure because of the alliteration..

  •  I say do it! I'm specifically picking names that start with J to go with my last name.
  • My last name starts with Ober...   I loved the name Olivia and if it wasn't so popular, I would have done it.  As others said, it depends on the name and the letter but OO sounded so cool- Olivia Ober...  She could have married a Bond- LOL.

  • I do like the sound of alliterative names, I think it can have a really strong sound.  I'd love to do it for ours, but the last name starts with K and there are really no K or C names I've come across that I like, except maybe Cora which DH doesn't like.
