Help me with gift idea....2 yr old girl

This is my cousin's daughter.....I have zero in common with my cousin - other than being just 10 days older.  She's very conservative, pro-farming/ranching, anti-commercialism, etc.....  So I just don't know what she'd 'approve' of.  She's got a huge ego about her/her husband being ranchers and the rest of the world should bow to them for providing the world with food. She boasts about going to brandings (where they mark the cattle), and nearly everyday makes some sort of crazy Obama rant or ungrateful Americans comment on FB.  (FWIW, I grew up on a farm, and 'get it', she's just way over the top and oblivious to the importance of other jobs/professions.) 

  

We have a family Christmas this weekend, and all the families buy for the other children...only 7 little kids (4 that are mine!)...but that is the ONLY reason I am buying something.  

 I think all Barbies/Princess/ other character stuff is out.

So .....$10 max.  Puzzle?  Little Mega Blocks set (even if it is Mickey/Dora)? 

 I thought about a Color Wonder thing...but they're all character-based.  

Book?  She'll get  toys from others, so that would be fine, right? 

I thought about buying the Children's book about Pres. Obama's dog....would that be hilarious?!?! lol.

What about something John Deere? I swear I've seen toys that have the JD brand on them. 

Target has an aisle w/ more traditional toys that are wood and more "imaginative" than straight up character stuff.

Head to TJ Maxx and find a couple of cheap Melissa and Doug type of toys- puzzles, play food, something like that.

I'd probably go for a wooden puzzle.  I picked up a few for Cohen at Kohls the other day.  The Melissa and Doug ones were around $10 each.  Or a baby doll.  You can't go wrong with a simple baby doll for a 2 year old.

Sticker book w stickers. Melissa &Doug make a magnetic puzzke that is a lil girl and u dress her. Kinda like paper dolls, but w magnetic pieces. We have the boy version. Think the girl is dressed like a ballerina. Any of the crayola color wonder mess-free stuff, the lil fisher price camera is cute and cheap. Its a fake camera/viewmaster.
