Two Under 2

plz recommend a good double stroller.

I know I'm kind of jumping the gun here since I'm only 14wks pregnant, but I'm trying to find a good double stroller for once LO arrives. DS will have just turned 2, and although I have a sit-n-stand stroller I'm not sure he will do too well with that. It would need to be a stroller that will allow for a Graco infant carseat to snap into it. Also, I think I might prefer a front/back type instead of a side by side (I have a Jeep umbrella side by side now) so we could take it shopping and such and still be able to get around fairly easily. TIA for your help.

  • We just go the BJ CitySelect- it was a bit pricey but I liked that on the days when I only have one kid or DD is in the mood to walk it becomes a single. We bought the car seat adapter to go with our Snugride as well.

  • I agree with PP, LOVE the stroller (not the price) but its totally worth it, and you can use it as a single for the next 7 months!  Don't forget to buy the carseat adapter (we have a peg perego seat)

  • We're going with the Kolcraft Contours Tandem II. I researched a billion of them and this one was miles above the rest. It's heavy... but it's a double so that's what you get. It's front to back which was a must, it's very cost effective (there was no way I was spending $500+ on a stroller) and it has a billion seat configurations.

You can remove one or both seats completely with the touch of a button. It can do an infant carrier (fits almost all infant seats) Seats can be back to back, back to front, both facing each other, etc. Both seats lay completely flat for napping. It's got adjustable canopies and snack trays for both kids. Plenty of leg room for both kids so one isn't kicking the back of the other all the time. The new one comes with MP3 speakers for the kids. Huge basket. Surprisingly Walmart actually carries it and it's only about $200 there. HIH!

I second this suggestion, but wanted to add that I just bought it off of Amazon for $131.  So, just wait for the right time to buy - especially since you're only 14 w you have time to wait for the right price.  We have a 4 door sedan, and it fits in the trunk just fine.  It is really easy to take seats out, switch them around, etc.  I haven't worked with the carseat attachment yet, but made sure that it was compatible with our Britax Chaperone before purchasing.

  • We have a used Graco Duoglider that I picked up a garage sale.  It's only 30 pounds compared to the other Graco double that's 40 pounds.  A new one is $150 dollars at BRU.  Ours is very beat up and probably won't last to much longer (I tried to get parts at Graco and found out they don't have them anymore because the stroller is 8 years old), but I like it a lot.
  • We have a Chicco double and love it, but I have also heard great things about that Graco Duo Glider - especially if you have a Graco seat.

I also love the BJ City Mini, but was given some great advice to wait on that until both kids are older.

It also depends where you plan on using it. Side to side strollers are terrible at the mall, but great outdoors. Side to side are also great for two kids that are older and more alert, but harder with infant... plus the car seat adapters on most are terrible as well as expensive. That's just my 2 cents. GL!

  • FYI...they're coming out with their new air tandem in April which will be 10 lbs lighter.  It's basically the same as the current one, just lighter & the newer version.
