I finally got to try the kiwi pie fitted with aristocrat wool cover on Dominic... It seemed okay. He had a super long nap and was in the diaper for 3 - 4 hours - when he woke up his jammies were completely dry! I was impressed!!! I was curious to how long it could go without changing, so instead of changing him right away after his nap, I fed him his bottle instead. While I was feeding him, he completely wet throught the cover.
My questions are: Does this mean that the covers are not properly lanolized (I thought wool was supposed to be bullet proof - lol!)? Or, does it just mean that he was in his diaper too long?
I'm really hoping these will work for night time. I'm sick of using disposables at night...it's actually kind of stupid that I'm even using them at night, anyway, because he leaks through those sometimes, too.
Re: Fitteds with Wool covers.....I tried it????
Thanks! I love the kiwi pie, so I'm glad I have them. I'm actually surprised that I like the fitteds idea. They'll be great for naps. Are the SBish snapless a PITA to put on? I have to admit, that the snapless kind of freaks me out! I've been looking at them, but afraid to buy!
Nikki, overboard? Nahhh!
I haaaated snappis at first but I've gotten used to using them with my snapless multis. I like the snapless multis because you easily have room to add extra inserts/doublers. That, and they're squishy.
My thoughts exactly.
Exactly. Plus the more you have the less wear and tear each diaper gets. Its smart thinking IMO.
Exactly! I keep telling DH that they have resale value whereas disposables do not (at least I hope not!). So really, one pack of $20 disposables is money lost, whereas one $20 diaper is an 'investment'. I hope he buys my logic.....
My standard response to this is that wool is only as good as what's under it. For instance, we used wool with potty training. People would put regular undies on DD and then she would pee right to the floor and all, and they would say, "we put the wool over it." However, the wool wasn't going to be able to contain pee if there was nothing but one thin layer to hold the pee. They finally caught on that they had to put the padded Gerber undies on under the wool and then there were no leaks. It is the same with diapers. You have to have something that is absorbent enough under there to hold all the pee. Also, I find compression leaks are more likely to happen the more saturated the diaper is. For long stretches up the absorbency as the PPs mentioned and you'll be fine.
See we are investors!
