Question about changing pad/cover

I received a free changing pad from the furniture store that I bought the nursery furniture from.

I then purchased a regular BRU terry cloth changing pad cover. Washed it, put it on, and turns out the holes for the straps are almost underneath the changing pad (like on the side) - but the actual straps on the changing pad are on top like in the contoured part.

My question is - WTH? LOL

Do you know if they sell changing pad covers that have the holes in the middle of it for straps that are on top of the pad rather than on the side? Or do you think I'm searching for a lost cause and I should just buy a new changing pad? OR, realistically, will I not even use the straps to hold LO down?? TIA

Re: Question about changing pad/cover

  • I've never used the straps.  It's not like I'd feel comfortable leaving the baby on the changing table even using those lame little buckles.  It's also a giant PITA to change the diaper of a child that's strapped down - much easier when you can lift the little body up as needed.

I was kinda thinking this - I'm going to keep what I have. Thanks fore the reassurance. Sometimes things seem so simple after you've talked them through - like I should have known better. Although - I do think other people may feel differently and that's ok too. I personally don't think I'll use the straps either.
  • It really depends on the baby if you'll use them.  Some are so squirmy that you may want them.  I'm sure you could make the straps work if you need them but most likely you can do without.

  • I never used the straps with my first. I kept everything right at the dresser (changing pad was on top of the dresser). If I needed something from a differant area of her room she came with me. So my hand was on her at all times. So I really would not worry about the straps.
  • The straps are just there to cover the manufacturer. Honestly if you have everything nearby, you probably won't need to use them. If you have a large room, etc, well then yea... but it's your call.
  • Like the PPs, I never used the straps.
