any advice for high FSH level?

I usually post on TTCAL but just found out today that my FSH was 15.6 on my CD 3 BW. 

My ob is supposed to call me tomorrow about what's next, most likely will go to an RE and try clomid. 

Just wondering if there's anyone else out there w/ higher FSH levels and what you've done so far for it.  and any other advice you'd like to share.

 I know how that result can feel.  I got pregnant barely trying with my son 3 years ago.  When we started trying with no results this time we were sent right to the RE due to my "advanced maternal age" (love that term).  I am 39.

Anyway, both the RE and I were shocked at my FSH level which was a 19 - enough to  be unelegible for treatment.  But they said they would monitor me and put me on injectables the next cycle assuming I went below 17. 

He told me there was nothing I could do to change my FSH level but I did a bunch of research on the internet and found a lot of people heralding the effects of wheatgrass for high FSH and so I figured it couldnt hurt.  I started taking the powder daily and the next cycle I was down to 15.9.  I took clomid (my choice instead of injectables that cycle) and had 2 good follicles, and a BFN.  The next cycle, (still taking wheatgrass everyday) I was down to 12.3 did injectables and had a chemical pregnancy.

I am still taking the wheatgrass.  I don't know for sure that it is doing anything or this is a natural occurrance but seeing the results so far I'm not going to stop taking it.  I'm (patiently) waiting for my period to begin our next injectable IUI cycle - hoping the FSH is still falling or at least stable.

So, it worked for me....give it a shot if it seems like something you are interested in.  My RE told me it wouldn't work but I did it anyway.

thanks so much for sharing your story w/ me.  I'm sorry for you loss but hope you will have success in the future!  Like you we conceived DS very, very easily and we conceived our 2nd on the 3rd cycle TTC.  after that fiacso we've had trouble TTC ever since.  i only wish they would have tested me earlier.   i'm definitely going to look into wheatgrass.  Do you order from somewhere or buy it a health food store?

Hi:

Wheatgrass can come in three forms, fresh squeezed, which can be hard to come by unless you live next to a juice bar.  Powder which you dissolve into water and drink, or pills.  I had previous to this had wheatgrass shots, the fresh kind, and enjoyed them so I wasnt so put off by the taste.

The drink seemed to provide other benefits so I told my health conscious sister about it, she went out and got the powder and said, it is too gross, I can't do it.  And I admit, it is kind of gross - it tastes powdery and like a glass full of fresh cut grass.

The third option is the pills.  I haven't taken them and so don't know how much they cost or how many you should take a day but I would think thtat that information would be on the box.  But when I was reading about this on different sites on the internet people seemed to say they got the same benefits from the pills.

I drink one serving a day and the bottle cost 19.99 and lasts for about 2 months.

I got it at a local healthfood store.  When I ran out I happened to be in a mall and asked in GNC if they had it and they said they don't stock it.

Well, that's high - but it's not impossibly high.  Definitely get to an RE. 

 FSH fluctuates each month.  From what I understand, you may have one ovary that performs better than the other, so that could affect your FSH level depending on which ovary was working that month.  (I definitely have one ovary that is an over-achiever and one that is kinda useless!)  So perhaps that's happening with you - you tested on a slow ovary month!

 Lots of people get pregnant with FSH over 15.  But get to a good RE to give it your very best shot.  And good luck!

i set up an appt. w/ an RE and it's scheduled for next week.  i feel tired already, doesn't help that it's xmas next week either.  i'm curious as to what they'll say and hopefully i'll have better results w/ the AMH results.  as for now my brain hurts and i have a huge patient package to fill out.  i think right now i'm just worried about everything, finances, my egg quality etc...
