TTC after 35

IUI question??

Anyone who has had at least one IUI and is paying OOP, would you be so kind as to give me a ballpark figure of how much it cost?  I have my first RE appt at the end of Jan (if I don't get a BFP before then) and I am trying to figure out my FSA contributions since any treatment will not be covered by insurance and I want to be as realistic as possible with my FSA.  I realize it can vary by region, but all I have for here is that the actual procedure is $475, but that's not any meds or anything else that is involved.

TIA for any info you are willing to share.

Re: IUI question??

  • Initial RE consultation: $405

Donor Sperm: $775 (you may not be using this)

    Ultrasound: $300

    IUI: $273

    Meds: $80

Total = $1,833 average cost per attempt (one IUI). We ended up needing 2 ultrasounds, so that was an additional $300.

good luck and hope this helps!

  • Sorry to highjack this thread-- UOduckbride2be, where are you going for RE in Seattle? Did you figure out who had the best prices for 100% OOP? This is my city and situation, and I am trying to figure out where to go to get the best bang for the buck.

  • I'm in Dallas. My insurance paid for all the pre-work and testing, so I didn't have to pay OOP until it was time for the actual IUI. All the pre-work was close to $14,000 that my insurance covered, but I had all the testing done sine it was covered.

    My costs are

    $535 = Donor sperm

$205 = donor sperm shipping each month

My RE has what they call prompt-pay package pricing that includes medication where applicable.

Unmedicated IUI = $545. This is what I am doing now. I have decided to do 3 trys with this method before I move on to monitoring.

Unmedicated IUI with unlimited monitoring ultrasounds = $1400

Medicated IUI (Clomid+Trigger) and unlimited ultrasounds = $2200
