Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

When is too late to send out Xmas cards?

I'm still waiting for my Shutterfly cards to arrive. I ordered them on the 1st of December with an expected arrival date of the 9th. I contacted Shutterfly and they said if you don't received anything by the 16th, let us know.

It's difficult for me to get to the post office to pick them up without being late for work or leaving early from work. (It's open from 8-5 and I'm OOT from 7:30-5:30 ish)

Patience.....I need patience.

ETA: My shutterfly calendars didn't take nearly as long...

Re: When is too late to send out Xmas cards?

  • I think as long as they arrive before xmas eve you are ok. We aren't getting ours until Friday (from Penny's). So I have the weekend to address and send them.

  • we didn't send ours out yet... last year they turned into happy new year cards :) i figure it just makes the season last even longer...

although i would totally contact shutterfly you should get some sort of compensation if they don't arrive in time for you to mail them out before christmas!

  • We get Christmas cards/ Happy Holiday cards after Christmas from quite a few people every year. I would think that anything after the new year is a little late.

  • There are one or two people who consistently send me Christmas cards that arrive around New Year's.  I don't mind, because most cards are "Happy Holidays"  and I consider New Year's to be part of that holiday.

I hope to get mine out this week.

I hope your cards show up!

  • I think you're OK.  I'm not sure how Canada's mail works, but how far away are the cards going?  Most of mine are relatively local and will get to their destinations within 1-2 days, so I'm just trying to get them out by this weekend.  Maybe even Monday or Tuesday.
  • I think you are fine if you send them out before next Wed/Thurs so people would get them in time. But, I also don't mind getting cards after Christmas, either, because it extends it a little.

I just addressed all 60 of my cards and waiting for my address labels to come in the mail (they shipped today) and I will send them out on Wed.

  • I am seriously running late with Christmas cards this year so there's a chance mine will arrive right after Christmas. I figure better late than never, and I have good excuses so if anyone gives me a hard time, they're just scratched from my list for next year. ;)

  • Update: I just printed and stuffed all 40 of my envelopes.  Now, all I have to do is go out in this unnatural cold weather (at least for the south) and stand in line at the post office with my toddler to buy stamps.  Maybe I'll just drive around and hand deliver them all, that may sound less painful actually!

  • I think as long as they arrive to the people before New Years you are ok.  I get some cards after Christmas and I never mind.  After New Years is too late and a little weird.

  • I just placed my Shutterfly order on Sunday, so I will be really late sending them out.  Shutterfly says that the earliest they will be here is this Saturday, but may arrive on Dec 23rd.  These cards may not get out until after Christmas. Good thing I went with a "Happy Holidays" message!
