Do you save yogurt?

DS loves yogurt. Sometimes he tells me he wants yogurt (by pointing at it) but then he doesn't eat it or only eats half of it. So I always end up eating the rest or throwing it away and I feel bad for wasting yogurt. So I thought maybe I could just put the yogurt in the fridge to save for when he wants it. Is there any reason not to do this?

Re: Do you save yogurt?

  • I dont' think there's anything wrong with it as long as he eats it within a day or so.  Do you buy the individual cups of yogurt?  I've never bought those for DS because I know that there's no way he'd eat the whole 4 or 6 oz that's in there.  I buy the bigger tubs of yogurt and scoop out what he'll eat into a little bowl.  I buy plain yogurt and mix in fruit purees, but I think you can buy the tubs in flavors too, just not much selection.  I think I've seen strawberry and vanilla at least.

  • As long as DS eats it in the same day I will save it.  By the end of the day if it is still in the fridge I toss it.

  • You should scoop some out into a separate bowl.  Then put the rest in the fridge.  If you've already put the spoon in your LO mouth then in the yogurt, it could potentially be contaminated with bacteria.
