molded crayons... how to melt?

I've made these before, but just melted them in my silicone muffin pan and popped them out when cooled.  I'm actually using a mold this time though--- what's the best way to melt the crayons (one color at a time)??

  • On Homemade by Jill, she used a tin can in a pot of boiling water. I started that way, but after 5 colors I was over. it.  haha!

  • i'd say double boiler on the stovetop or use tin cans in a water bath in the oven so you could do them all at once. you could probably bend the can a bit to make a pour spout too.
  • cans!!  duh I am so glad I asked this.... I never would have thought of this and my mom didn't either.  geez
