TTC after 35

Turned 43 yesterday : ( No go on IVF #2

I have fallen off the boards for the last few weeks. My work schedule is crazy busy with Santa & marketing events.

My scond IVF was a bust. On to the DE program.

I finally got it out of my RE... your chances of getting pregnant with one working ovary at your age is small to none. ... could we maybe have reviewed that before we spent 40k? What RE's don't understand is that DH's listen to every word - at least mine. It wasn't until this moment that my DH believed it to be true. I've been saying it for about a year.

Now, our RE won't let us use our 3rd IVF cycle for DE's - they say it's buy 2 get one free and it's is free for my eggs. Like I'm buying the value meal at a fast food restaurant.

 Working around that....

The only thing I would have done differently until now is not waited for the wedding to TTC... precious months when I was 39 and 40, wish I had them back!

  • I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope you can get to use DE for the 3rd "free" cycle. That is ridiculous.  You have been through so much from your siggy.  I won't be complaining again for a while. Love your comment about wanting back the precious months when you were 39 and 40. I feel a spring chicken now at 37 so thanks for cheering me up!

  • I'm so sorry you are having these issues.  That is crazy that you've spent that much money and they give you that line of crap.

Good luck with the DE program.  I hope that works for you first time!!

  • First off Happy Birthday!  I'm sorry you got bad news in conjunction with your birthday.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that the DE route will be your path to success (the success rates on DE are amazing at any age) I'll be starting a DE cycle in January.  I hope you get the $ worked out with your RE - couldn't they just let you pay the difference between a regular cycle and a DE one?

  • I also wanted to let you know that the Infertility board has a weekly DE check in on Tuesdays if you want to join.
