baby shower food ideas

One of my good friends is having a baby shower in January and it's being cohosted by 4 of her friends (including me). It's a low key affair, providing the food ourselves, etc. We are all in charge of bringing one dish for 30 people. One of the girls is bringing a cilantro chicken salad, and then one of the other girls is making wrap style sandwiches. Now I have to figure out what salad or dish I can bring. It needs to be something that can be served cold or room temp.

Ideas??

TIA :)

eta: I forgot to mention this is a lunchtime baby shower, and one of the other girls is already bringing a fruit salad.

Re: baby shower food ideas

  • What about a shrimp or seafood salad?  Or some kind of pasta salad/something meatless in case there are any vegetarians?
  • This pasta salad goes over well in my family...

Cook pasta noodles (we use the corkscrew shaped), drain and then run under cold water to cool.  Toss the noodles in italian dressing, not to soak them, just to coat them.  Add cubed mozzarella cheese, black olives, grape tomatoes and pepperoni pieces.  (You can add what meat, cheese, veggies you like).  You can add grated parmesan or even the stuff you'd put on pasta to the top as well, if you'd like.

Serve cold or at room temp.

We like it because it's easy and you can pretty much do what you want with it.

  • Orzo salad--  cook a box of orzo pasta, cut up cucumbers, grape tomatoes and feta cheese.  Mix with the orzo and add Italian dressing.  Serve chilled.
  • Thanks for the suggestions & recipes!! Big Smile
