Help me find a middle name

We are team green.  We had no difficulties with a girl's name (Scarlett Joy) but a boy's name has been more of a struggle.  At this point we have agreed on the first name Nicodemus, but we're really struggling with the middle name. Our last name is very short, sounds like Poe.  

I thought Nicodemus Samuel (my father's first name) but DH isn't convinced.  

 Other names I typically like are old fashioned and very strong, unique names. 

Any suggestions?

I disagree with the PP. Nicodemus be a little too ornate for me (which is saying a lot, given I actually seriously considered Aurelia) but with a nickname like Nick or Nico it works well. I have to admit I prefer Nicholas.

I really like the way Samuel sounds with Nicodemus, though. I'm of the belief that you can afford to go a little crazy with middle names, so how do you feel about Samuel Nicodemus? (probably not if your husband doesn't even like Samuel as a middle, huh?)

Nicodemus Samuel sounds strong and I've never heard the first name before so I think it's cool. The two names go together well IMO.

Thanks ladies! I know I have very unique taste in names, so I'm not offended if you dislike my choice.  I should have mentioned that we do plan to nickname him Nico.  I appreciate your opinions though.

i think that with that first name you need a short middle name.  it reminds me of the guy from The Secret of NIMH and DH says there is a philosopher named Nicodemus.

I like Samuel for that name.  Nathaniel would sound good too, IMO:)

I like it! One of my coworkers wants to name his son Nicodemus. I agree that maybe a shorter middle name would be a good thing to consider. John, maybe?

While I don't particularly like Nicodemus, there is nothing wrong with it. It makes me think of Nicodemus in the Bible. I think it sounds nice with Samuel and I like the significance.

 And it does make me think of NIMH.

Actually John was one of my first suggestions.  John is DH's middle name, so I thought that would be nice.  But he didn't like that either! Ugh, he's being so picky! haha

I refuse to believe that one could frequent this board and come to the conclusion that Nicodemus is the worst name they have ever seen.

Nicodemus is not a bad name, I personally like it, but having said rthat, my best friends son is named nicodemus, and he is teased mercilessly about it. It really hurts him. Children can be so mean...

It's not the worst but I agree that it isn't very cute. I couldn't imagine a little baby/toddler/school aged child names Nicodemus
