Colic - wow.

I think my boys have colic.  At first I thought all this crying was a growth spurt, or my milk supply, or they way I was feeding them.  But it's been going on for a week now.  It's unreal..  double screaming, the blood-curdling kind where you'd think I'd poisoned them or something.

One thing I noticed was that they tend to take turns... when one is clenched up, bright red, going crazy, the other will calm down.  It's as if he knows the other is in a worse way, and needs mom more than he does.  I consider this a blessing, because I'm often alone and am spending hours literally picking one up for a few mins, putting him down to get the other, repeat for HOURS.  I should mention my back hurts much worse than it did during pregnancy!!

  • Mine had colic for over three months.  It was torture.  Hang in there

  • Our girls have their periods of fussiness.... if we run the vacuum they calm down.  Have you tried that or other white noise??  It really sucks when BOTH are crying... hang in there!
  • Loading the player...
  • Mine did that too. Ugh...I cringe just thinking about it. Keep reminding yourself that its not a reflection of you or your parenting and that they will be ok. My girls eventually outgrew it and are now the happiest LOs. Hang in there and take a break when you need one!
  • Ugh, how frustrating. Do you have any family or friends that can stop by to help, or at least give you a break, the times you are alone? I hope this stage passes quickly for you guys!

  • I have no advice and my guys aren't colicky... I think. But yeah, I feel your pain about consoling one, then the other one starts for hours. Fun times. Can't wait for this stage to be over.

  • If it happens when you're feeding them (especially if they arch while eating), right after feeding them, or when you lay them flat, I would ask your pedi about reflux.  It may just be colic, but a lot of times with colic there's a reason for it like silent reflux or gas.  Hopefully with the help of your pedi you'll be able to figure out if there's a reason for the crying that you can treat, for your sanity.  Good luck!
