Ok, I need help. What are you getting your 4y.o. boy for Christmas?

Sam is my easy one to buy for usually! I am stuck on what to get him for his big "wow" gift. I bought him the Imaginext Batcave and some Trios and a few other things, but nothing that  I know for sure he'll flip for.

So, even though it been asked a whole lot, what are you getting your 4y.o. boy this year?

  • I need to pay attention here, because I have no clue. I have a dollhouse for DDs bigger gift and a shopping cart from Santa, plus some little stuff.

DS has some Tinkertoys from Santa, and Legos and a little Vtech thingy (that was a little over $10, so nothing special). I need one bigger thing for him.

  • I hear a few parents are getting their 4 year old boys this but if you get it, don't forget the batteries.

  • Apparently I can not copy and paste from my spreadsheet without getting all that weird shizzle on top.
  • M is positive that Santa is going to bring him Alphie the little robot guy, so he is getting that and a pillow pet. I also have a few books and a movie for him.

  • $25 - Kaskey's Baseball Guys
    $10 - My 1st Sticky Mosaics (vehicles)
    $10 - Melissa & Doug vehicle stampers
    $17 - LeapFrog Scribble & Write
$13 - Melissa & Doug Shape Sorting Clock
$20 - P. Barum Pum Pum Drum (drum with musical toys inside)
$13 - Dr. Seuss The Cat in the Hat Lacing Cards
$10 - Melissa & Doug Decorate Your Own Train

  • A swimming puppy?  What is that?  I googled and came up with Rescue Pets.

I need to google Alphie.  That sounds promising.

I am anti racetrack since he got the Shake and Go last year and barely touch it and another for his birthday that didn't last long either.  Max bulldozes right over them and makes Sam mad.

I was thinking of a scooter that shoots sparks, but I think he may be a little young for that yet.

  • I would love to help, but I'm not overly excited about what the boys are getting either. They are getting Explorer's, but I don't think they will play with them a ton.

They are really into pretend play lately and pirates, so I got them each the Melissa & Doug Pirate Treasure Chests and some treasure maps off of Amazon. I also ordered some double sided capes from Etsy that I think they will love (but I think Sam has a cape already, right?), and some Imaginext stuff too (rocketship, batcave).

My mom got them that huge firehouse thingy from Costco (boy's version of a dollhouse).

For some reason I think they might like a keyboard too...but I have no idea why I think that ;)

With all that said, I'm not overly excited about any of it.

  • That's the problem, I'm just not excited about any of it.  I think he'll like his Batcave and accessories, but I don't think he'll get overly excited over it.

Jen-Have you seen the Paper Jamz guitars?  I think Sam would like one of those, but again, probably not overly excited for it.  He has a cheapo keyboard, but doesn't touch it much.

He keeps making up toys when I ask him what he wants.  Then I ask if he's seen it anywhere and he says, "It doesn't matter.  The elves can make anything."  Frustrating.

  • His Santa request was a monorail (he is a train freak) so I got him a Disney monorail set (I actually put it together tonight just to make sure we had all pieces and it worked. The thing is freaking gigantic. I have no idea where on Earth we will put this thing. Sigh). We also got him Lincoln Logs, a bunch of board games, a build a road set, and some small things. Grandparents are getting him walkie talkies, a remote control car, and the imaginext space shuttle.

  • I just googled the Paper Jamz Guitar. They may like those. Do you think it would be fun to someone that can't play a guitar at all or do you think it only sounds good if you know how to play it a little (all the demos I saw looked like the people knew what they were doing..haha).

Everytime I ask them what they want, they start naming ridiculous things. It's just proof there is nothing specific they REALLY want. All day today their top request was a "bologna sandwich". I think they saw it on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or something.

Ahhh well...we know they will be happy with anything...but it's still bugging me I almost bought Alphie the other day, too. I still may, actually. I know they have it at TRU and I think Target, too.

My nephew has one and let Sam try it.  He was able to do it ok.  I think if you know how to play a little, it would be cool, but if not, you can still play it.  I think Sam liked that it looked like the real thing.

I asked Sam the other day, or badgered really, and he finally said, "I don"t know.  Its hard.  REALLY hard."

I'm on the hunt.  I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

  • The only thing DS asked for was a Polar express Train, I was able to get a brand new one on ebay for $49, everywhere else was $139. I also got a crap load of little things like melissa and doug stamps, and transformers ( thanks to slickdeals), I did get the explorer with 3 games and some other accessories, but I don't think he'll be into it much, he also wanted a pillow pet, I got him a Zoobie instead, I think he'll like that much better, because of the blanket that comes with it. I'm hoping some legos will go on sale so that I can get some for him.
  • I forgot two things:  Star Wars Play Doh set and Lego Army Men.

I know, right?? He is constantly trying to make other objects into monorails. I am not super impressed with the WDW one we got, but I know DS will be overwhelmed with excitement when he sees the giant, plastic, loud, battery operated thing. So, I had to do it. Definitely not worth what they charge, though.

  • His big gift was a razor rip rider. Sort of like a hopped up Big Wheels. We put it together and it's pretty awesome - lasts till they are seven or eight.
  • DS received a nok hockey table as a gift for chanukah, and he seems to like it.
Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • We got my ds tickets to see disney on ice so that's his big gift ,but we also got him a cd player to play his music cds.
  • Well, L is (3.5) wanting a LaLa Loopsy dall, princess castle, and a crying baby doll.   None of which I have problems with, but I think I am already done shopping.

However, he will be getting a Shake Shake Bridge from Santa.

    Daisypath Wedding tickers
  • We got this from Costco.  It isn't on their site anymore.  My mom has a membership and I got it for $80!  I was super excited for the price.
