Two Under 2

what to do with two who can't walk?

Thought this might be the board to ask this question on in case anyone has 2u1....

What do you do with two kids who can't walk? Wear one and put one in the seat cart? Can you wear two children at once? Thinking of what I would do if I was babysitting for a friend's kids and had to run an errand or take them all to something (the library, etc) so I'd have an 6 mo. old, 8 month old and two 3 year olds.... Just curious. I've been running scenarios in my head but can't quite come up with anything that makes great sense.

Re: what to do with two who can't walk?

  • Park near the carts at the store wear the baby, some kids have to cry once in  a while! It is all trial and error until you get what works!

  • Hmmm...I would never attempt two babies and two three year olds! I mean, I consider that pretty dangerous and am surprised you are even thinking about it....sorry!

But for walks or something- maybe try to look into larger strollers like daycares use?

  • I don't think I'd want to go anywhere with four kids without seating for all of them. I would wear an infant and use a stroller for my older DD in my case. But with two three-year-olds, I still think I'd want a way for them to be confined. I don't know much about three-year-olds yet, but I suspect they still get into things they shouldn't and you'll want a better way to keep them under control than allowing them to walk while your hands are full with two babies. I wouldn't attempt that without a second adult, or a triple stroller.

  • I think about things like this all the time when I ponder multiples.

I would have the 6 month old in their carseat, put the carseat into the cart. Put the 8 month old in the seat of the cart. And have both 3 year olds hang onto the side of the cart, or find one of those with the car on the front that they both could sit in... honestly if it were me I may consider those leash things for them too lol! And I'd make sure it was a QUICK trip!

Like the PP said, make sure you park next to the cart return, that makes it easier to get everyone in and out of the car.

  • I'm going to have 3u2 (12 months 5 days apart) and I plan on wearing the baby and having the twins in the stroller.

  • Sometimes I wear the baby, sometimes I would take the bumbo or her infant seat and put it in the cart basket, sometimes I have DS sit in the cart basket, sometimes I get the carts with the double seats.

  • It's hypothetical since I don't babysit for them regularly and normally we just stay at our house or maybe walk to the playground down the street! And I don't have a car that can transport 4 kids at once anyway. I was just thinking about it last night in a "what if I had to" sort of way and trying to figure it out. None of the kids are in bucket seats anymore, so that's why I started thinking about where to put them all!
