This weekend stinks!

we were supposed to have our family Christmas/DDs 6 month photos taken tomorrow but with the blizzard coming we can't make the drive to our photographer (and conditions won't work for photos anyway..). Our 3 month photos got canceled due to weather and now this. I'm bummed...

AND DH just saw a commercial for the Keurig coffeemaker (which is my gift to him) and made a comment about how they are stupid & wasteful. . I tried to talk it up....but he kept talking crap about it and making fun of people who "pay for silly pods of coffee". Aaaaggghhhh! He loves coffee and hot tea so I thought it would be a great surprise! Now what?!

You can use the keurig to make individual cups of coffee with regular coffee grounds, maybe talk up that aspect and see if you can hook him? Less wasteful.

Is he the type to brew a whole pot of coffee and only drink one cup? maybe work that angle too?

He brews a half pot & will drink it....but he complains about how he needs to cut back (i think he drinks so much since he wants to not waste it). I am just going to give it to him and hope for the best. I got an awesome deal on it ($130 down from $220) so maybe that will make him happy! Blah!

maybe we can set something up for pics after the holiday craze! My in-laws had arranged a mini-shoot in Madison but with this weather it is not gonna happen!

Oh, he will love the keurig!

I used to make fun of it too- and Dh even got me a new regular coffeemaker last Christmas because I told him I didn't want a keurig. Well, then the doctor's lounge got a keurig, and OMG i'm jealous. Once you use it, you love it!

 

Sorry bout the pics though- hopefully you can get some cute pics at home for Christmas cards

you can buy a little filter basket that brews regular coffee (like maxwell house or whatever he'd use) so you don't have to buy the k-cups. then you can just buy k-cups for tea, hot cocoa, or specialty coffees and it's not a waste everyday.. that's what we do!

We have a Keurig which we love and we NEVER buy pods.  I got sick of the waste too so we got the "My K-cup" reuseable filter that PPs mentioned (https://www.amazon.com/Keurig-K-Cup-Reusable-Coffee-Filter/dp/B000DLB2FI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1292155242&sr=8-1) which is perfect when you just want a single cup of coffee.  But what we use our Keurig for most is tea (bags or loose leaf).  We just put a mug with a tea bag or infuser in it under the spout and hit the button without putting anything in the k-cup holder, so it dispenses hot water to steep the tea.  The advantage over the microwave is that you can use mugs that aren't microwave safe (I have a stainless steel travel mug I use alot); and plus the Keurig heats water faster than a tea kettle on the stove.  If we do any holiday entertaining this year I might buy a variety pack of pods for guests to enjoy so that's an option too.  Hope this helps you sell your hubby on the Keurig!
