We are going to Disney in January for 5 days (Wed-Sun). We are staying on the resort, but the hotel is not on the monorail-but it does have the bus service. Our daughters will be 4y4m and 20.5 mos. These are my stroller options, wwyd?
1. Bring our single stroller with the ride on board. (Comfy for little one and convenient for older one, but not really good for when she is exhausted. But much easier to push than any double).
2. Bring our P&T inline double. (Great because relatively easy to push and stuff can be stored on the bottom seat when not in use. Cons are that older DD won't sit on the bottom, so when she wants to ride, we have to move younger DD to the lower seat. Also, nowhere to hang a bag or shove stuff under when both kids are in).
3. Borrow our friend's Maclaren double. (great because both kids can get in and out easily. Apparently it's a nice one with reclining seats in case little one falls asleep. Con is that it is kind of ackward to push, especially if one kid is doing most of the riding.).
Our older DD doesn't sit in the stroller THAT much, except for walks around the neighborhood. But she does get tired walking a lot and then one of us ends up having to put her on our shoulders or carrying her and that's exhausting.
WWYD?
Re: Disney Stroller Question
I would probably do the inline or the Maclaren. We were just there this fall and my DD was just turning 5 and youngest was 3.5. I found that my older one walked some but it was easier to just have her ride. When you are going from one "land" to another, you'll probably want to have her riding just because it's nice to be able to walk at your pace, she's contained and not getting lost in the crowds walking. Then once you're riding some rides, she'll get out and walk between them. My guess is that she'll ride more than you think.
We borrowed my friends sit and stand and it was perfect, because even the "stand" part has a small seat to it so my oldest just hopped on that. It was also easy to fold up to hop on the buses/monorail/etc. Oh and I did the park alone with them as MH had a conference, so it was pretty much essential that they both ride and stay contained for me!!
Um, if we have to fold to get onto the bus then we will be screwed with our single-it's a Bugaboo.
I don't think we'd be separated, but now that you mention it, if I take back the little one back to the hotel for a nap, it would be kind of a pain in the arse to cart her back in a double.
If you're riding the bus, I would not bring the P&T. I don't have one, but wouldn't that be a pain to fold up and lug onto a bus? I'm thinking you'd probably have to take the double attachment out for the bus ride. We took our double jogger to Disney, and we only rode the bus the first day because of how difficult it was to get on and off the bus. The stroller was perfect for the actual park, so we just paid the parking fee the other days to avoid the bus.
Of your other options, I'm thinking the ride on board would be best, unless you think your older DD will actually need to sit back and nap. The ride on board will give her a chance to rest, and you can keep walking at your speed without worrying about it being too fast for her smaller legs.
