Any (hula)hoopers out there????

Hi - I am thinking of asking Santa for a hula hoop and wonder what kind is best/easiest? Also, what kind of results are you seeing and what do you think of hooping? It looks fun, but I am a hard sell.

Also, do you use a DVD? Recommendations?

Here are the two I am looking at. Those ridges on the sporthoop look a little brutal but I worry about the slimmer ones not being as easy for a beginner.
