EBFers and EPers... quick question

Did you gain weight when you stopped nursing/pumping?

I'm down from my pre-preg weight as of now, but before I get new pants (that don't slide down/look sloppy Smile), I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to put some lbs back on...

I'd love to keep the weight off if I could, but I've never been one to lose weight when I want to, so if it's pretty typical to gain it back, I don't see myself being able to get it off again...

Thanks girls!

Re: EBFers and EPers... quick question

  • I did not experience a weight gain after I stopped BFing/pumping.

Then again, I don't tend to gain weight very easily, so I might be an exception. ::dodges tomatoes::

  • I just stopped nursing 7 weeks ago but so far I haven't really noticed loss or gain. I maybe lost a few pounds like 1 or 2 but nothing noticeable in my clothes. I am just happy that my boobs aren't lopsided anymore! Woo!!

  • I was down to 3 lbs above pre preg weight and maintained that until I quit EBF.  My appetite did not change after I quit so I ended up gaining almost 20 lbs from quitting until Aug this year.  I have now finally gotten to under pre-preg weight with at least 20 more to go!  Good luck keeping it off!
  • I lost 40lbs over 3 months on maternity leave and I only breastfeed for 2 weeks and then did a combo for the other 2 weeks.  I didnt gain anymore weight back after stopping but that may be a combo of gentics as well (everyone on my side of the family is fairly skinny).
  • Yes.  I EPed and I was a milk cow - I burned *so* many calories I was starving constantly and ate a ton, constantly, even at night....

I'm not used to watch what I eat closely, so I did gain some weight back.  That said, when I EPed my weight was lower than it had really ever been, so I don't think I'm capable of maintaining that weight unless I'm either *really* dieting or exercising in some way.
