So my tree fell over again last night, despite the c clamps that were involved, the little "screws" gave way and the tree just tipped inside the stand. It is currently leaning up against the wall and windows in the corner. LOL
So now the task is, go buy a new tree stand, then someone manage -- the two of us, to wrangle the tree out of the stand and into a new stand, screw into place in some sort of straight and up-right fashion with all the lights and ornaments still on the tree.
Common sense dictates that I should take all of the ornaments off and start over... Common sense be damned. That's a lot of work!!! LOL
We'll see how it goes.. (and I took a picture of this tree, I'll have to send it because it's just not the same unless you see it propped up in the corner against the wall. I swear it's tempting to just leave it like that!!! ![]()
Re: Oh Christmas Tree Oh Falling Tree Part II
How tall is your tree? We got an 11' one this year like we always do, but it's fatter then we normally get. We also had MAJOR issues. The stupid thing wouldn't stand up no matter what we did. So DH concluded that it was our base, so I went straight to Lowe's and got this stand which is AMAZING. SO sturdy and secure. Luckily we didn't do ANY decorating until we were sure the base was going to work. Sorry you already have everything up! so frusturating! But yeah, after we got that base the tree was up and sturdy in less then 10 minutes (after struggling for 2 hours with our stupid old stand!)
But I really recommend that stand even though it's a little pricey- it's VERY sturdy.

You know, i can tell right off the bat that this is a better idea than the stand I have. I was all excited when I got my stand two years ago... I got it after season and it's one of those "self leveling" So you can maneuver it and lock it into place. The problem is, the "bucket" that the tree sits in is plastic. It still has that same square bolt and screw as most other stands, but of course any pressure on that plastic and the plastic is going to flex against the metal bolts...Which is what is going on. Then there is the other issue that the metal bolts only have this rubber nub on the end. I can see in the one you got that it's a bigger kind of "circle" which will hit more of the trunk as opposed to just having four points hitting... for flatter circular points are certainly more sturdy.
I'm also thinking of tying it to the wall like PP... lol... I just don't know how I'd go about that... lol
we bought those command hooks that you can take off the wall when your done and used string.. probably would look a little better with clear fishing line or something but we didn't have any lol
