Anyone else frustrated by the amount of time you have to wait between U/S? from 12 weeks to 20 weeks seems like an eternity!!!!!! i just want to hear the heart beat and see my baby again

I had my first appt at the end of 11 weeks. We heard the heartbeat but didn't get to see the baby yet. I went home and bought a doppler on Amazon for $24 and it works great! Maybe if you get a doppler it will help the days go by easier until your next appt.!
My next appt isn't until 17 weeks and I dont know if they will try to do an US for the sex of the baby or wait 4 more weeks....
Well, you may not get to SEE your baby again until then, but you'll get to hear it. Makes it that much more exciting when you have to wait. I ended up having them almost every week (few times it was 3 times a week) at the end of my pregnancy and it was still so great to see her, but it wasn't as special as the first few times when I had to wait.
I actually don't have any appointments again until the 20 wk one..... It's a bit strange in Australia - you have your 1st U/S at 12 weeks, have bloods etc too, then you have your 2nd U/s and appointment at 20 weeks but nothing in between - Maybe i'll look into a doppler

You are lucky to have even had one. My doctor only does one at 21 weeks to determine sex. No more, no less. He thinks they are dangerous. I should mention he's about 70 and very very old school.

Yep....in the US, its not standard to get one before 18-20 weeks when they do the anatomy scan. The NT scan (11-13w) is optional and not everyone does them.
You are lucky you had one at 12 weeks. My doctor doesn't believe in the NT scans because he thinks there are a lot more false positives which causes undue stress on everyone. So, I had one at 8 weeks (but I was lucky to get that one because I only got it to see if we were having twins since fraternal twins runs on my side of the family). If I did not get that ultrasound, the ONLY ultrasound I would have had is the anatomy scan at 20 weeks.
Where I live, unless you are having bleeding or have absolutely no idea when you conceived, the only u/s is done at 20 weeks--and they don't even reveal the sex.
I get my one and only u/s at 20 weeks- that baby's privates better be in a good position! I heard the heartbeat at 11 weeks and my next appt is 2 days after Christmas so I guess I'll hear it again then! I told my husband about at home dopplers and he seemed excited- so we'll see what "Santa" brings!

For whatever reason, it's not really bothering me. I had 4 u/s up through my NT scan at 11 weeks and won't have another unless there is an emergency until our anatomy scan. I'll be glad to forgo any inbetween if it means everything is going well.
And you will get to hear the hb on doppler at your in between appts.

PEOPLE. The 20 week ultrasound is not to determine the sex. That is not the priority! It is your anatomy scan. To make sure the baby is healthy.
Yikes! Sorry. Potay-to. Potah-to
It's really not Potay-to, Potah-to. Truly, the anatomy scan is to check organs, make sure they are all there and in the right place. It's purpose is not to determine sex. That is a nice perk, but it's not the purpose.

the only u/s i had was at 6 wks so i will be waiting even longer than you. and yes it is very frustrating. i can't wait to see the baby again---it's been so long. i have heard that many women have their first u/s at 20 wks!

Us too. The only reason we had one at 6 weeks was because of some spotting. It doesn't bother me so much that we don't get to see it, but I do wish I could go every week to hear it!! I should invest in a doppler, but I worry about not being able to find the HB on my own!
It's not really bothering me. Maybe because I had three already, the original one, one because they couldn't find the hb with the doppler, and then the NT scan.
I'm looking forward to the one in 4 weeks...but I'm not going nuts waiting.
I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks and have to wait until 20 weeks. It is such a frustrating wait. Part of me is thinking..."How do I even know there is a baby still in there??"

ETA: NT scans aren't offered here either.
