DIY ball pit?

Has anyone done this before?

I bought a small blow up pool (capacity 14 gal.) and questioning how many balls I'd need to fill it up.  There is a bag of balls on Amazon for 100 that is pretty reasonable.

Also, I am a 10 year old boy because I giggle every time I write "balls."

Re: DIY ball pit?

  • We made our own ball pit. The pool we have is much bigger. I have 300 balls in but it doesn't fill it up. I would start with 100 balls and see if you need more.

  • We made our own ball pit too- with a huge inflatable pool. The pool is pretty big (I have to fit two babies in there) and I got the huge bag of balls from TRU. It took almost 3 bags to fill it up. I would think 2 bags should be enough for you.

  • Yeah, you always need more balls than you think you do. We have a blow up pool and probably have 200 balls in it and it isn't full. Just remember that every ball you buy is a ball you will eventually chase all over the floor when they throw them out. Trust me.

  • Target and Walmart also have bags of 100 balls. I can't remember which is cheaper though. We ended up buying too many and have serious buyers remorse. Those balls are in every single room of our house. Don't get me started on how many times I've tripped on one in the middle of the night after I'd cleaned up before bed. Derek absolutely loves the ball pit though.

I guess I should buy them locally then and try this.

I didn't even think of that.  Super.
