Josie has whooping cough!

They called today and her test was pertussis test was positive!  I've been vaccinated and she had her 2nd vaccine a week ago Tuesday.  I've been bugging Todd to get his, and he was scheduled to get it Friday.  Now Todd has me freaked out b/c he said he's read that it's often fatal in infants.

 The nurse said that they had to notify the health department, and they may call.  We're all supposed to get on antibiotics.  Thankfully she has been since Monday.  

Anyone's child ever had it?

Oh no!  Prayers that she gets over it quickly and it bypasses the rest of you!  I'm pretty sure that Andrea's Jake had it last year?

aw prayers for little Josie!! I knew older kids who have had it but not infants. I think it's really good they caught it early, I know it is definitely going around and in high numbers lately. Did your husband have a cough? Or a kid at her day care?

Oh no! T&P to you. I just saw on the news a student at HSE has it too. Is the vaccine a live vaccine? Could she of gotten it from the shot last week? Stay strong mama! Positive thoughts!

Actually I didn't read this at first but if she got the second vaccine a week ago I think it's likely she actually had whooping cough before she got the vaccine... isn't it dormant for 2 weeks? I could be wrong...

Jake had it in Aug of 09, just a little older than Josie.  He was fine during the day but had long chains of coughing in the middle of the night.  After a few days on abx, he seemed to be over it.  Prayers that Josie recovers quickly too.

Thanks for the T&P.  She's still in a good mood besides when she has her coughing spells.  Todd is totally freaking out thanks to google.  He thinks she needs to be hospitalized and might die!  While I know it rarely does happen, I think he's going a little overboard.
